Resuming Activities After COVID-19

If you have COVID-19 or are experiencing similar symptoms, the Waterbury Health Department recommends you stay home and away from others.

Return to normal activities after overall symptoms have improved for at least 24 hours and your fever has been gone for at least 24 hours without taking a fever-reducing medication like Tylenol or Motrin.

Once you go back to normal activities, take additional steps for the next 5 days to reduce the spread of the disease – such as limiting visitors, keeping your home well-ventilated, washing your hands, cleaning all surfaces, wearing a well-fitting mask, and distancing from others as much as you can.

It is especially important to protect coworkers, friends, and family most at risk for severe illness, including individuals over 65 and those with weakened immune systems.

While COVID-19 remains a threat, it is far less likely to cause severe illness because of widespread immunity and improved tools to prevent and treat the disease.
